Emergency Financial Safety Net Aids Those in Need
A sense of safety and assurance that basic needs can be met strengthens a community.
Residents of Coal Creek Canyon, Nederland, and Gilpin County benefit from emergency monetary assistance from the local non-profit organization Canyon Cares in their time of need.
Canyon Cares is devoted to meeting our local community’s necessities and urgent financial requirements, including individuals in Coal Creek Canyon, Nederland, and unincorporated Gilpin County in Colorado’s Front Range. Our goal is to provide support and resources in the short term to help look after our neighbors.
Established in 2006, Canyon Cares is an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization with no affiliations.
Gaining assistance can be accomplished by following these steps:
It is a simple procedure to request short-term emergency financial assistance.
Once you submit your application at https://canyoncares.org, a board member will contact you to discuss your situation. Subsequently, the board will evaluate your request and decide if and how they can best provide assistance.
You will be notified of the board’s decision, usually within 48 hours. However, if your request is complicated, the notification may take longer.
Rather than granting financial aid to the individual making the request, the money is distributed to an outside entity (e.g., landlord, utility company, repair shop, etc.).
We’re here to help and invite you to contact us at 720-515-1129 or through email at aid@canyoncares.org if you need assistance.
Canyon Cares offers aid for unexpected medical expenses, vehicle maintenance, housing, and utilities. Additionally, they distribute gift cards for groceries and gasoline worth more than $10,000 to local families every December.
The graph accompanying this article outlines the total dollar amount of funds Canyon Cares distributed in 2022 and the types of emergency assistance provided.
Canyon Cares is designed to give temporary assistance to people in need and does not substitute for other government resources. (Check out https://canyoncares.org/helpful-resources for a list of agencies that provide assistance.)
Ways of Contributing
Volunteers manage Canyon Cares, which is solely supported by grants, bequests, and individual contributions.
