Canyon Cares offers short-term financial assistance to those in need within Coal Creek Canyon, Nederland, and unincorporated Gilpin County, Colorado. At this time we are not able to assist residents of Black Hawk or Central City proper. The financial aid is paid to a third party (landlord, utility company, repair shop, etc.) rather than given directly to the person requesting aid.
The Process. A board member will contact you to discuss your needs. The board will then review your application and a determination will be made as to whether and how we can best meet your needs.
The Results. Within a short period of time, usually within 2 days, you will be notified of the board’s decision. It can be longer depending on the complexity of your request.
- Your Request Is Approved. Funds will be paid directly to the third party involved.
- Your Request Is Denied. You will be notified as soon as possible and provided with resources that may be able to assist you.
